Hot air

I shall be popping down to a Southsea church to play for evensong tomorrow (bear in mind that the timezone I occupy is 13 hours behind). However, it has a hot-air blowing system to heat the place and the Swell shutters close automatically when the power goes off. So the thing is not really in tune, ever.
However, this pales into insignificance when considering the effect of the warm air blowing round the church. Coupling Swell to Great is just not on, the whole thing turns into celestes from 16' to mixtures. It is most unpleasant. These systems should be banned.
I know of another such system which points straight at an 18th century organ, that church wondered why they were having problems with the tracker action and so on...

Got an email asking me to do a recital this summer - on a 3m Bryceson. Will be nice to get back on that console, but will have to avoid the programme I am doing in the same city earlier on a different organ during the musical festival.
